BASIC RULES
At the start the player must place a bet on one or more hands, but no more than three. Then the dealer deals two face-up pairs of cards to each hand, and the bet is automatically duplicated. There are unusual variants where the dealer does not check the hole card for blackjack at all. But most often the game is played by traditional rules: the dealer deals two cards to themselves, exposing one, and checks for blackjack if that card is a Ten or an Ace. If the dealer has a blackjack, the player’s hands are not played out. They lose unless they also have a blackjack.

If the dealer’s first card is an Ace, the player can take insurance against blackjack. To do this, press the “Insurance” button and make an additional bet on the hand equal to half the original bet. If the dealer has a blackjack, the player is paid 2:1.

The main feature of Blackjack Switch is the Switch option. It appears immediately after the initial deal. Using Switch the player can swap the top cards. For example, the player has hands 7/10 and Jack/5. Choosing “Switch”, the player swaps the 10 and the 5 and ends up with 7/5 and Jack/10 (“blackjack”). Note that only the second dealt cards are eligible for swapping. In the case of combinations 6/10 and 7/Queen, performing a “Switch” makes no sense, since swapping the second cards yields the same totals – 6/Queen and 7/10.

If one of the hands becomes a “blackjack”, that hand is no longer played for the remainder of the round. If the player does not have a “blackjack”, play proceeds first on the right hand, then on the left hand. The player can double down, hit to increase their total, etc. When all decisions for the right hand are made, play moves to the left hand.

In Blackjack Switch there is the option to double on an active hand. You can only double when there are two cards on the hand. If the player received a “blackjack” on a hand at the deal, doubling on that hand is prohibited. When the “Double” (or “x2”) button is pressed, an amount equal to the original bet is automatically taken from the balance. The player receives one more card to the pair, after which the hand becomes inactive for the rest of the round. Play then moves to the second hand.

Split. If the player is dealt a pair of the same rank, they can split them into two separate hands. To do this press the “Split” button and place a separate bet on each hand equal to the original. The rules are almost the same as standard blackjack: you can split only once; when splitting Aces the player is dealt only one card to each Ace; 21 from two cards is not counted as a “blackjack”.

After the player has made the final decisions on all hands, the dealer begins to draw. If the dealer has a “hard” 17 they stop, if a “soft” 17 they draw one more card. Ultimately, if the player’s total is higher than the dealer’s – the player wins. When the dealer’s and player’s totals are equal, a “Push” (tie) is declared. The player loses bets if the totals on both hands are lower than the dealer’s.

If the player has a “blackjack” and the dealer does not, the bet is paid 1:1. If both have a “blackjack” – it’s a tie, so the player gets their bet back. In Blackjack Switch the dealer does not lose with 22. In that case a “Push” is declared and only hands with “blackjacks” are paid.
